KYJTA is excited to announce Beth Brubaker, CJE as our new vice president.
Brubaker advises The Hilltopper at Fort Thomas Highlands High School in Northern Kentucky. She is in year 17 as a teacher and 10 as an adviser. She began her advising career at Amelia High School in Batavia, OH for two years before the move.
“I am excited for the opportunity to increase engagement and camaraderie amongst journalism teachers across the state. Journalism teachers are often the only people in their position in their particular school and district. It is important for there to be a community,” Brubaker said.
“I’m so excited to add Beth to the fold. She is a professional in every way and has already shown here dedication to Kentucky High School journalism. She has already shared her vision and some really good ideas to help us grow,” Larry Steinmetz, KYJTA President said.
“A goal I have is to improve resources available to Kentucky journalism teachers. I also hope to bring back a state convention for Kentucky student journalists,” Brubaker said.
